Let’s drift through this alien scenery of landscape, walking on an ancient trail that connects the small fishing village of Agios Ioannis to Koudoumas monastery in a hike by the sea.
The trail offers a variety of emotions to visitors since we come along to plenty of remoted beaches with turquoise waters, caves, saltpans, a pine forests and a shipwreck! All of that under the accompaniment of sheep all around and vultures flying over us!
The trail follows a scenic coastal path, passing pine-covered slopes, secluded coves, and the impressive cave of Saint Anthony, once a hermitage carved into the cliffs.
After we reach the impressive Monastery, we can recharge our batteries on the beach, have a traditional Greek coffee and pay a visit to the monastery interior place before our hike back.
The way back should not be leaving you blue! Taking under account that we are consistent with our time schedule, we enjoy a visit to Kapetaniana village, for a highlight panoramic view! This trail is the heart of this ancient place, located just in the middle of the range, visitors will have the chance to experience the Cretan vibes all along.
Τhe trail is approximately 7 km in total and takes around 5 hours to complete, including swimming, relaxing at Koudoumas Monastery and Agios Antonios cave, of course depending on the pace and dynamics of the group.
